Fall Anime 2018 in a Nutshell

The fall season of 2018 was an exciting one, with a diverse range of shows that catered to different tastes. While some shows were worth skipping altogether, there were others that stood out as must-watches.

If you're looking for a show to skip, Iroduku Sekai no Ashita kara and Golden Kamuy are not worth your time. On the other hand, Goblin Slayer is an excellent choice if you still have time on your hands.

For shows that are decent but not necessarily exceptional, Boarding School Juliet, Since That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (which will continue next season), and Run With the Wind are worth checking out. However, if you're looking for something truly impressive, look no further than Golden Kamuy, Bloom Into You, SSSS.Gridman, Tsurune, and Banana Fish.

Dakaretai Otoko ichii ni Odosarete imasu, Rascal does not dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime are also shows that will feature prominently in my year-end ranking.

As it turns out, the fall season ended on a high note, with at least 12 shows worth recommending. This is a testament to the quality of anime that was released during this time period, which rivals even the strongest winter seasons of the last five years.

In contrast, Summer 2018 was relatively quiet, with only Cells at Work standing out as a notable exception. Spring, on the other hand, was a major disappointment, with beloved classics like sequels falling flat.

Overall, 2018 was a strange year for anime, with strong shows concentrated at the beginning and end of the year, leaving the middle seasons feeling sparse. Despite this, there were still plenty of gems to be found in the fall season, making it an exciting time for anime fans.
